Did the Trick!

I realize this going back a few days, but I could not miss highlighting the PA Railroad Museum that apparently did the trick to advance the pregnancy. The picture above was taken around 5 pm in Strasburg, PA (near Lancaster), by 7 pm we were home and Kristin was feeling funny and by 8:30 pm we were at the hospital and she was about ready to start pushing. Perhaps all of the walking at the museum was a factor. Good thing we did not have to flag down a horse and buggy as an escort to an Amish hospital.
We met Sonia and Garrett at the Train Museum. Colin had a great time and is still talking about it. I assume the same for Garrett. Sonia probably assumed with the baby coming that she lost her shot at being on the blog this year. This one is for you. You have to keep the fans happy out there.

Kaitlin Maggie Kipp

Kristin and I are thrilled to announce the arrival of Kaitlin Maggie Kipp who was born 2 weeks early at 12:45 am on May 16th. She weighed in at 7 lbs 12 oz. Everyone is home and adjusting to very little sleep (except for Colin who did not get up once with all the crying). Colin loves his new baby sister - sometimes a bit too much. He likes to kiss her over and over and we have to remind him to be gentle.

These pictures are all from the first 2 days in the hospital. More pictures to come when I can find a moment.

Trip to Zoo

A couple of weeks ago we went up to the Philadelphia Zoo for a fun Sunday. The highlight for Colin was the Orangutans. There was a mom with baby inside and the dad outside. The baby was old enough to start climbing away from Mom and the Dad was very shy outside and likely to keep a sheet over his head. Colin was talking about them for the next couple of days. It really made an impression. Looks like we should renew our membership for next year.

Only 29 days to go (at most)!

Happy Easter 2010

We had a very nice Easter Weekend down in DC! The weather was fabulous and Colin enjoyed spending a lot of time with his cousins. We were never able to get great posed shots of Colin, so I posted the action shots to better reflect the story of Colin. He likes to have a good time!

Aruba

You know it has been a long time since posting when you go from snowstorm pictures to those taken in 90 degree weather. The time span is not as great as that suggests since we took a mid-March trip down to Aruba. It was nice to have one last get-away before baby and shower Colin with attention. We had a great short trip from Saturday to Wednesday. Some of the highlights include playing at the pool, going on a submarine ride, feeding iguanas, touring the island and riding on the Steelers plane!
Colin was very brave feeding the iguanas including the big one pictured right up to the end of the piece of lettuce. The weather was perfect and it was a nice break to mark the end of a tough Winter and the start of a beautiful Spring. The first weekend back reached the low 70s!

Snowmaggedon

Over a period of 5 days we have experienced more snow than Colin has seen in his entire life. We have already smashed the all time record for snow in this part of the country by 5 inches. We have had close to 40" of snow in these last two storms. There was a State of Emergency in DE today and my work was closed for the last 2 days. We were just grateful that we had power because we know of several people that were without power for up to 24 hours during the storm.

Colin enjoyed our walk today. He did the little dive into the snow below several times. The first was an accident. Then it was a fun little game (until his nose went into the snow).

It is back to work tomorrow. Fortunately there is no snow in the forecast until at least Monday.

Big Boy Bed

Colin is proud to report that he has left his crib and moved into a Big Boy Bed! The transition went very smoothly and he seems quite happy with his new bed. We went with a safari animal motif with lions on his sheets. He still fights the falling to sleep part, but it is no trouble getting him into bed.

It looks like we will be trapped inside for most of the weekend. The snow is moving in.
